1. When your dog has a skin irritation, chamomile tea can be applied to reduce the irritation and speed up the healing time.
2. When your dog has dry skin, apply some vitamin E oil to the skin for added moisture.
3. If your dog appears to have itchy skin, apply baby oatmeal to the skin, leave it for 20 minutes, and then rinse off.
4. For a dog that is dehydrated, Gatorade or other sports drinks should be given. They will rehydrate a dog the same way it does a person.
5. If your dog is on antibiotics and they are making your dog’s stomach upset, you should give your dog yogurt with live active cultures to help soothe their stomach.
6. Just as chamomile tea helps to reduce skin irritation, a chamomile tea bag can be placed on a dog’s eyes when they are irritated or infected.
7. Epsom salt is made from magnesium sulfate, which helps to reduce swelling. If your dog has a sprain or strain, mix some Epsom salt with warm water and put it on the affected area for about 10 minutes then wash off. Do not let them eat it. You can also run a warm bath and put 1/2 a cup of Epsom salt in it. Let your dog soak in the bath for about five minutes.
8. If you have noticed that your dog has facial hot spots, it is likely that you are using a plastic food or water bowl. Plastic can contain bacteria which can get onto your dog and cause irritation. Using metal bowls will eliminate this issue.
9. If your dog is having issue with their bladder, give them unsweetened cranberry juice. You can just add it to their water and the issues will go away.
10. If your dog seems to be constipated, straining to go or wanting to go more often with no results, you should give them prunes or canned pumpkin. This will help to regulate their digestive systems.
11. Dogs will try and eat almost anything. If one of the things they eat are toxic, you should give them hydrogen peroxide to get them to vomit. One teaspoon of peroxide for five pounds of dog. You can repeat one time if you need to.
